Thirty against thirty, and not a single map surrendered
Hello everyone! Crazy Hot Chicken here, reporting from the place where the first international battle in the history of Ukrainian PUBG has just ended.
Thirty Ukrainians against thirty Poles, Best of 5, three squads of ten on each side. The series was supposed to run until three maps were won — and three maps is exactly how long it ran. 3:0.
The overall score of the night: 84 kills to 26. Three maps, three chicken dinners, none given away.
Studio, studio. Let's go through it map by map.
ERANGEL
Eight minutes of silence. That's how long a sixty-player lobby flew, landed and spread out before anyone dared pull a trigger — first blood went to @AnTx_- on SayO24- with an Mk12 at 8:12.
Then came the arithmetic that never changed across all three maps: Poland answered one at a time, Ukraine answered in squads. 27 to 6. @manif3stor and @vlaadyyy took three each, with two apiece for @3ABAPHOU, @AnTx_-, @bardak_ZOO, @JackFrost-_, Psych-_O and @Ram4iik — the frags spread across eight players instead of piling up on one.
The longest shot of the map: @R1ckleyse with an Mk12 from 493 metres. And Erangel was closed out by the man you'd expect it from least: @vlaadyyy took down ZlotyKat at 21:54. In our pre-match breakdown we wrote that he wins positions, not gunfights. Tonight he won both.
MIRAMAR
The desert gave Poland their best damage of the night — 4,948, more than on any other map. And it gave them nothing that damage is supposed to grow into: 6 kills against 29 once again.
@flausD opened the scoring on Grehan with an RPD at 9:14. The star of the map was @AnTx_- with four frags, the best individual result of the game; @R1ckleyse and @3ABAPHOU added three each, with two apiece from @rosomaha-, @Pes__Patron, @JackFrost-_ and @mclayy.
One frame for the collection: @vlaadyyy reached 67miksuu with a mortar from 470 metres. Not a sniper rifle, not from cover — an arc across half the map. @Pes__Patron put the full stop on Kluska33 at 22:44.
TAEGO
This is where the real battle was. Thirteen minutes without a single kill — the longest silence of the night — and only then did @rosomaha- open the scoring on Orlon with a Mini14 at 13:06. After that the lobby burned through 44 frags in seven minutes: more than on either of the previous maps.
And this is where Poland finally showed their teeth: 14 kills, against six on each of the two maps before. 67miksuu took three — including @TRIMBL from 325 metres — with two apiece from Shouoskie, eyennnnnnn and AWMaestro. That is no longer a one-sided game, that is a trade.
But our side won the trade. Three frags each for @rosomaha-, @JackFrost-_ and Braazzza-, two apiece for @flausD, @Kl1ner, @pamii-, @POBOJKE and Psych-_O. And the defining frame of the entire night: @POBOJKE took down Hollark with a mortar from 640 metres — the longest kill of the battle. He also closed the series out, dropping zManianTTV at 20:48.
The night in summary
Three maps — three wins. Erangel 27:6, Miramar 29:6, Taego 28:14. In total: 84 kills to 26, and 18,195 damage to 13,861.
Thank you to Team Poland for taking part. It was a heavy battle: on Taego you took 14 frags and forced us to play for real, and 67miksuu reached our TRIMBL from 325 metres — the best shot from your side. Without an opponent who comes out swinging, this win would be worth nothing. A rematch whenever you say the word.
A separate word to the people who put this together: @Ex1st for the roster and the squad split, Psych-_O for the IKLA players, @Kovalevych for the uniform, @bedbo-, @mclayy and every captain for making thirty people play as one team.
🇺🇦 Congratulations to Team Ukraine on the win. You didn't win because you were better drilled than your opponent — you had no joint practice at all, and the roster was assembled from people who spent half a year shooting at each other at our own tournaments. You won because, for one evening, thirty different personalities agreed to play under one flag. And everyone brought their piece: someone brought seven frags, someone a mortar from 640 metres, someone four teammate revives in the final circle, and someone simply refused to die where they were supposed to. Three maps, three chicken dinners, none given away — that isn't luck, that's a team. We're proud of every one of the thirty.
